Trump: We Stopped Iran’s Nuclear Program; Now It’s Time to Sell F-35s to Saudi Arabia

On Monday, one day before hosting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Trump announced that he intends to approve the sale of advanced F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia.

According to Rokna, Trump told reporters at the White House: “We are going to do it. We will sell the F-35s. They have been an incredible ally. They must really like us a lot. Look at the situation in Iran; we were able to destroy their nuclear capability.”

Trump’s claim about eliminating Iran’s nuclear capabilities comes despite the International Atomic Energy Agency rejecting such assertions.

According to Reuters, a deal involving the F-35 could mark a significant shift in U.S. policy and reshape the military balance in West Asia, while also serving as a test of Washington’s ability to maintain Israel’s “qualitative military edge.”

Saudi Arabia has requested the purchase of 48 F-35 aircraft—a multi-billion-dollar deal that, according to reports, has recently cleared a key hurdle within the Pentagon.
