The President of the United States, facing growing concern among American consumers over the high cost of groceries, removed tariffs on more than 200 food products, including basic goods such as coffee, beef, bananas, and orange juice.
The new exemptions — which took effect retroactively as of midnight on Thursday — mark a sharp shift in Trump’s policy, as he had long insisted that the broad import duties imposed earlier this year were not contributing to rising inflation.

Speaking at the foot of Air Force One, Trump insisted in response to a question that, overall, the United States has “virtually no inflation.”
Democrats secured multiple victories in state and local elections in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York City, where growing voter concerns over affordability — including the soaring cost of groceries — had become a central issue.
