Israeli Minister Distributes Sweets Following Palestinian Prisoner Death Penalty Bill
Rokna Political Desk: The controversial action of Israel’s Interior Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, in distributing sweets after the preliminary approval of a bill to execute Palestinian prisoners in the Knesset, has sparked widespread reactions and tensions.
Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Interior Minister, in a contentious move following the preliminary approval of the Palestinian prisoner death penalty bill in the Knesset (Israeli Parliament), began handing out sweets; an action that triggered intense tensions and escalated into a physical altercation among some parliament members.
According to Rokna, citing RT, the Knesset session last night witnessed a heated confrontation between Itamar Ben-Gvir and Ayman Odeh, an Arab politician and member of the Israeli Parliament. The clash occurred after Odeh strongly criticized the bill, stating: “You will leave, but the Palestinians will remain.”
Odeh continued: “You wanted to displace us, but you failed, and this is why you are in an ideological crisis; you will go mad, as you are even now. You weak group, you will flee, but the Palestinian people will remain, and this cursed occupation will end, and the State of Palestine will be established before you.”

Following these remarks, Tali Gottlieb, a Knesset member from the Likud Party, immediately responded: “He cannot say such things,” which triggered moments of chaos in the Israeli Parliament. Several members confronted each other, leading to verbal and even physical disputes until security forces intervened to disperse the participants.
In a controversial move, Ben-Gvir then took advantage of the situation and began distributing a box of sweets he had previously prepared; an action that some perceived as a political gesture and an act of insult.
