Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s Foreign Minister, announced on Tuesday that during his trip to the United States, he conducted extensive discussions with Steven Witkoff, the US President’s Special Envoy, on issues such as the Palestinian ceasefire and Iran’s nuclear program.
According to Rokna, Fidan stated: “We had the opportunity to discuss many issues related to the Palestinian file—which Witkoff is responsible for. As you know, there are still significant unresolved matters regarding the ceasefire.”
He continued: “Witkoff is also responsible for the Russia-Ukraine file, so we held comprehensive talks on this issue. We discussed what can be done at this critical stage to end the war, what role Turkey can play, and how we can cooperate with the United States in this regard.”
Fidan added that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has “clear views on these issues” and said: “In the meeting, we shared some of our assessments and outlined our next steps.”
According to Fidan, they also reviewed the United States’ position on the Iran nuclear negotiations and emphasized that measures need to be taken in this area, as it affects the entire region.
