Trump Issues Stern Warning to U.S. Airline Employees
Rokna Political Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump, reacting to the absence of airline employees during the ongoing federal government shutdown, has threatened to cut their salaries. This comes as hopes for ending the shutdown rise following the decision of several Democrats to join Republicans in supporting the proposed budget.
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, threatened to reduce the salaries of air traffic controllers who have been absent from work during the federal government shutdown.
According to Rokna, citing The Axios, Trump wrote on his Truth Social account on Monday: “I am very unhappy with those who only complained and did nothing, even though they knew they would soon be paid in full.”
He also promised to propose a $10,000 bonus for air traffic controllers who did not miss a single day of work during the shutdown.
As the government shutdown continues, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced that to ease the strain on staff, it will implement flight reductions. If the shutdown persists through Friday, these reductions will reach 10 percent across 40 major airports nationwide.
In recent weeks, widespread flight delays and a shortage of air traffic controllers have disrupted air travel, and officials have warned that the situation will worsen as the holiday season begins.
The President’s threat comes amid news that ten Democratic senators have joined Republicans in approving the government’s proposed budget, raising hopes that the longest federal shutdown in U.S. history may soon come to an end.
