Latest Sanctions by Zelensky Target Russian Officials as Tensions Persist
Rokna Political Desk: In response to ongoing tensions with Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has imposed new sanctions on Russian officials, including Kirill Dmitriev, and accused Moscow of attempting to normalize the occupation of Ukrainian territories.
The President of Ukraine enacted sanctions against Russia and its officials, citing the protraction of the war as justification.
According to Rokna, Zelensky stated on Sunday evening: “Russia wants to prolong the war and normalize the occupation of our territories.”
As reported by Russia Today, the Ukrainian President, making this assertion, signed new sanctions against Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian Presidential Special Envoy for Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, along with other Russian officials.
Dmitriev recently traveled to the United States to discuss ending the Ukraine conflict with the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Zelensky also wrote on his Telegram channel: “Recently, Russia has taken a symbolic political decision to impose sanctions on Ukrainian officials, particularly targeting the Prime Minister of Ukraine. Such actions by Russia deserve much stronger pressure from the international community and the expansion of that pressure; both against all resources and funding schemes of Russia’s military apparatus, and against anyone who promotes propaganda. We will submit our proposals for new sanctions to the relevant partners.”
He added: “Today’s Ukrainian sanctions decisions target individuals working within Putin’s government structures who are involved in the plundering of temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.”
