Belgium Deploys Specialized Forces Against Unidentified Drones

The Chief of the UK Armed Forces announced that a specialized unit has been sent to Belgium to address the drone incursions.

According to reports, following an increase in the number of unidentified drones flying over airports and military bases in Belgium, a team of specialists and counter-drone equipment has been deployed to the country. This action was taken at the request of the Belgian military to provide immediate assistance in controlling widespread drone disturbances. Last week, several airports, including Brussels’ main airport, were temporarily closed due to drone sightings, affecting thousands of passengers.

German and Belgian officials, noting the recurring pattern of these incidents, have suggested the potential involvement of Russia. The Belgian Defense Minister emphasized that “there is no direct evidence” of Moscow’s role in these events.

These incidents occur amid similar disruptions experienced by several European countries in recent months. NATO has reported coordination among member states to strengthen anti-drone defense systems.

The UK Defense Minister also highlighted the growing “hybrid threats” in Europe, stressing the importance of defense cooperation and the protection of critical infrastructure.
