Revelation on BBC’s Distortion of Trump’s Remarks
Rokna Political Desk: A leaked internal document has revealed that the BBC distorted Donald Trump’s statements, falsely portraying him as having incited the January 6, 2021 riots at the U.S. Capitol.
A recently disclosed internal memo, revealed by a British publication, has exposed the BBC’s role in misrepresenting Trump’s words and the events surrounding the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.
According to reports, the British outlet stated that, based on an internal whistleblower note it had reviewed, the BBC deliberately mischaracterized Trump’s speech during the attack on the U.S. Congress in January 2021, making it appear as though he was encouraging the riots.
The report said that the BBC’s “Panorama” program, aired a week before the U.S. elections, misled viewers by showing footage of Trump telling his supporters that he intended to go to the Capitol and “fight hard.” However, in reality, Trump had said he would accompany them “peacefully and patriotically” to make their voices heard.
The Telegraph report noted that the edited footage of Trump’s speech has now become a central piece of evidence in a 19-page file on BBC bias, prepared by a member of the Standards Board. The file has been circulated among several government offices in the United Kingdom.
The document stated: “In the BBC’s edited program, it is made to appear as though the U.S. president said things he in fact did not say. This was done by cutting the footage and linking the opening part of Trump’s speech to a segment made nearly an hour later.”
Following the disclosure of this internal memo, the BBC has come under intense criticism for its conduct.
