Two French Prisoners Released in Iran; Macron Reacts

The French president confirmed that two French citizens convicted of security offenses in Iran have been released.

According to Rokna, French President Emmanuel Macron wrote on the social media platform X on Tuesday evening: “Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris, who had been detained in Iran for three years, have been released from Evin Prison and are on their way to the French Embassy in Tehran.”

Macron added: “I welcome this first step. Discussions to facilitate their return to France as soon as possible are ongoing.”

The French president emphasized: “We are tirelessly working on this matter, and I would like to thank the embassy and all government services for their efforts.”

Conditional Release of Two French Nationals

In response to questions from reporters about the latest situation regarding the two French nationals imprisoned in Iran, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said: “These two French nationals, who had been serving prison sentences for committing security-related crimes, have been released on bail by the order of the presiding judge and will remain under supervision until the next stage of judicial proceedings.”
