Trump Decides: No Tomahawk Missiles for Ukraine — For Now
Rokna Political Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that, for the time being, he has no plans to send Tomahawk long-range missiles to Ukraine, though he did not rule out the possibility of changing his decision in the future.
According to Rokna, citing The Hill, President Donald Trump stated aboard Air Force One that he currently has no intention of supplying Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv. In response to a question about the potential transfer, he said, “No, not really. It could happen, I might change my mind, but right now, no.”
Earlier, CNN reported that the Pentagon had already authorized the shipment of Tomahawk missiles and that the Department of Defense’s internal assessments showed the move would not negatively impact the U.S. weapons stockpile.
However, despite approval from the military and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Trump has reportedly continued to resist this decision.
Before meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump remarked, “Providing such weapons is not an easy thing to do; we are talking about a large number of very powerful armaments.”
Following their meeting, Zelensky emphasized that the issue of Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine carries not only military importance but also diplomatic significance.
The Kremlin, meanwhile, has warned that sending such missiles to Kyiv would be considered a provocative act and a dangerous escalation of the ongoing conflict.
