The U.S. Army’s “Golden Eye” to Be Designed by Elon Musk

SpaceX, the company owned by Elon Musk, is set to sign a $2 billion contract for extensive military cooperation with the U.S. government.

According to Rokna, SpaceX will soon begin manufacturing satellites for the U.S. government that will have military applications. The company has been assigned to produce 600 satellites capable of tracking missiles and aircraft, which will be used as part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed “Golden Dome” project.

In May, Trump announced the implementation of a plan to develop a missile defense system designed to detect and intercept incoming missile attacks before they reach their targets. The “Golden Dome” project bears resemblance to Israel’s Iron Dome system; however, the Pentagon has not yet disclosed specific details about the initiative.

Given the large scale of this plan, the reported $2 billion contract with SpaceX is likely only one of several agreements related to the Golden Dome project. According to the report, companies such as Anduril and Palantir will also take part in this Trump administration initiative, which is expected to be completed before the end of his current presidential term.

Beyond the Golden Dome project, the Pentagon has been expanding its military cooperation with Elon Musk, intending to utilize SpaceX’s extensive satellite network to achieve additional objectives, including enhanced military communications and vehicle tracking. To date, SpaceX has launched more than 8,000 satellites to provide its Starlink satellite internet service, and that number is expected to increase further in the future.
