Bahrain: Diplomatic Resolution of Iran’s Nuclear File Is the Key to Regional Security
Rokna Political Desk: Bahrain’s Foreign Minister has emphasized that a diplomatic solution to Iran’s nuclear issue through negotiations between the United States and Iran is the main key to ensuring regional security and meeting the aspirations of the people of the Gulf.
The Bahraini Foreign Minister underscored that efforts to achieve security in the region must align with the demands of its people, including the settlement of Iran’s nuclear file through dialogue.
According to Rokna, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, speaking on Saturday at the 21st Manama Dialogue Forum held under the theme “Securing the Gulf Region,” stressed that all efforts to establish regional security must include a resolution to the Iranian nuclear issue through the resumption of negotiations between the United States and Iran, in a manner that addresses the legitimate aspirations of the peoples of the region.
The Bahraini Foreign Minister further stated that these efforts should also include supporting Lebanon in implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and the Taif Agreement, assisting Syria on its path toward stability, backing Saudi and Omani initiatives to strengthen peace in Yemen, and supporting the mediation efforts of the Quartet Committee for a peaceful resolution in Sudan.
Al Zayani emphasized during the session that genuine and multidimensional security requires sincere and continuous cooperation among nations, and must be grounded in an approach consistent with the will of the peoples of the region.
He further noted that mutual understanding and dialogue remain the best means of resolving disputes and stressed that education and cultural exchange are two key elements for strengthening coexistence and building trust.
According to Bahrain’s state news agency (BNA), the foreign minister highlighted that security depends on safeguarding territorial integrity and protecting human lives, adding that cooperation with regional and international partners is crucial in this regard.
Referring to Bahrain’s hosting of the Combined Maritime Forces coalition, Al Zayani described the joint defense agreements among GCC member states as significant, adding that economic development and regional integration are key factors in achieving security. He stressed that strengthening economic relations is essential in reducing the likelihood of conflict.
Addressing the ongoing regional conflicts, Al Zayani added that the prevailing insecurity stems from the confrontation between Palestinians and Israelis, but expressed optimism regarding recent international efforts to resolve the disputes, including the peace initiative proposed by the U.S. President.
