Iran’s Interior Minister: Expanding Regional and Neighborly Ties Is a Core Policy
Rokna Political Desk: The Minister of Interior stated that the definitive policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to strengthen relations and expand interactions with neighboring and regional countries.
According to Rokna’s reporter, Iskandar Momeni, speaking on the sidelines of the Fourth Meeting of the Interior Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states, expressed his gratitude to the media and representatives of the member countries for their active participation. He stated: “The definitive policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to expand interactions and strengthen relations with neighboring and regional countries, and the 14th Government, under the leadership of Dr. Pezeshkian, pursues regional cooperation as one of the main pillars of its foreign policy.”
Momeni added: “Fortunately, we witnessed a very strong turnout for this meeting today. After more than a decade of interruption, the Islamic Republic of Iran, in cooperation with the ECO Secretariat, took the initiative to resume this meeting, and today we are witnessing its successful conduct at a high level.”
Referring to the presence of member-country delegates and special guests, he emphasized: “In addition to the member countries, two states attended as special guests, along with several international organizations. The content of the speeches and discussions showed that the viewpoints of the member countries are very closely aligned, and there is a strong desire to expand the level of regional cooperation.”
The Interior Minister continued: “Through the initiative of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a new phase of cooperation within the ECO framework has begun. At this meeting, it was agreed by consensus that the next meeting of the member states’ ministers will be held next year in Pakistan, and prior to that, the host country for the following session will also be determined.”
In conclusion, Momeni pointed to the adoption of the final communiqué, saying: “The final communiqué was approved by all members and can serve as a roadmap and platform for the further development of economic, social, and political cooperation among the member countries in the future.”
