Qalibaf ratifies the law on Iran’s accession to the CFT.
Rokna Political Desk: Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has formally ratified the law on the country’s accession to the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism (CFT). The decision follows the conditional approval by the Expediency Council, aimed at strengthening Iran’s efforts in combating terrorist financing.

According to Rokna, Qalibaf sent an official letter to President Masoud Pezeshkian, notifying him of the ratification of “the Law on the Accession of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism,” in accordance with Article 123 of the Constitution.
The Expediency Council approved Iran’s conditional accession to the CFT during its session on September 30. Council spokesman Mohsen Dehnavi explained that the Parliament had already stipulated a condition stating that Iran would implement the convention’s provisions within the framework of its Constitution. The Council added another condition, emphasizing that the Islamic Republic would act in accordance with its Constitution and domestic laws.
Dehnavi noted that if any part of the convention conflicts with Iran’s internal laws, the country’s domestic legislation would take precedence. He added that with these two conditions in place, the Expediency Council gave its consent to Iran’s accession to the CFT.
