Hamas: What’s Unfolding in Washington and Tel Aviv Is Mere Theater
Rokna Political Desk: Emphasizing its commitment to defend Palestinian rights, Hamas announced that it is prepared to withdraw from governing the Gaza Strip and enter into a long-term ceasefire—on the condition that the process is overseen by Arab and international actors, and not tied to disarmament.

Hamas underscored that Gaza’s future and the rights of the Palestinian people must be addressed exclusively within a broad, Palestinian framework. A senior Hamas official said that many of the negotiations reported in U.S. and Israeli circles are more media spectacle than genuine commitment.
According to Rpkna, the unnamed Hamas official, speaking to the Cairo News Network, stated that Hamas has clearly informed mediators of its readiness to step aside from Gaza governance and move toward a long ceasefire—without any discussion of surrendering arms or their handover—as long as oversight is Arab and international.
The official said that, as part of any prisoner-exchange deal, the movement insists on releasing prominent Palestinian national figures, especially Marwan Barghouthi and Ahmad Sa’adat, general secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).
He emphasized that the prisoners issue is not the primary subject of negotiations, but forms part of a broader vision to end the war and secure Palestinian rights.
The Hamas official added that while the movement has given preliminary approval to certain elements of the U.S. plan, it will not accept any formula that fails to guarantee a permanent ceasefire and full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
In this regard, an anonymous Egyptian source told Cairo News Network that in spite of a cautiously positive atmosphere, key disagreements persist—such as the timeline for full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the modalities of international oversight, and the conditions for prisoner exchange, which Israel seeks to tie to political and security demands.
As part of ongoing efforts to halt the war in Gaza, a Palestinian resistance delegation led by Khalil al-Hayya arrived in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday to take part in indirect talks with the Israeli side, mediated by Egypt and Qatar. The aim of the negotiations is to achieve an agreement on a ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal, and prisoner swap.
Egyptian sources said that the talks are being conducted within the framework of the proposal advanced by U.S. President Donald Trump. That plan calls for a ceasefire, release of Israeli hostages within 72 hours of Israel’s consent, and gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
The negotiations are being overseen by a central operations room headed by Hassan Rashad, head of Egypt’s intelligence services.
According to insiders, Hamas has offered to hand over administration of Gaza to a technocratic Palestinian body, selected by consensus across Palestinian factions and backed by Arab and Islamic states, to run Gaza’s affairs.
Hamas reiterated that Gaza’s future and the rights of Palestinians must be debated solely within a comprehensive, Palestinian framework.
