Iran Dismisses Rumors of Foreign Airlines Cancelling Flights After ‘Snapback’ Mechanism
Rokna Political Desk: The CEO of Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport has dismissed reports that some foreign airlines have suspended flights to Iran following the activation of the so-called “snapback” mechanism, stressing that all flights are operating as scheduled.

Recent speculation suggested that Iran’s aviation industry had come under pressure from international banking and financial restrictions, prompting foreign carriers to cancel or consider cancelling their services. However, flight records from Imam Khomeini Airport indicate that these reports are unfounded and aimed at spreading public anxiety.
Saeed Chalandari, the airport’s managing director, told Mehr News Agency: “We have received no official notification regarding the cancellation of flights, and all operations are being conducted on schedule. There has been no change in flight programs, and services are continuing without interruption.”
Addressing the situation of Lufthansa, Chalandari explained that the German airline’s challenges were primarily domestic and unrelated to Iran. “Sometimes even minor weather conditions lead their pilots to cancel flights. These issues are internal to the company and have had no impact on our operations,” he said.
Chalandari reaffirmed that all inbound and outbound flights at Imam Khomeini Airport are running normally and without restrictions.
