China: Any Threats or Sanctions Against Iran Are Unacceptable;
U.S. Exit from JCPOA Escalated Crisis
Rokna Political Desk: A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the unilateral withdrawal of the United States from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), calling it the primary cause of the current Iranian nuclear crisis. China urged Washington and European countries to intensify diplomatic efforts and facilitate a political resolution to the issue.

At a press briefing on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakong stated that the Security Council of the United Nations had been unable to pass a draft resolution jointly submitted by Beijing and Moscow aimed at extending Resolution 2231. According to Guo, the joint draft was designed to provide more time and space for diplomatic dialogue on Iran’s nuclear program and to create favorable conditions for achieving a final political solution.
Guo emphasized that the insistence by certain countries on the “reimposition of sanctions” was counterproductive and had led to serious setbacks in the political and diplomatic process. He reiterated that the unilateral U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA was the root cause of the current crisis. Beijing maintains that a peaceful resolution to Iran’s nuclear issue is possible only through political and diplomatic means, and that any threats or sanctions are unacceptable.
The spokesperson further called on the United States and European nations to demonstrate political sincerity and enhance diplomatic efforts to return Iran’s nuclear issue to the proper political track and prevent further escalation of tensions. Guo stressed that China remains committed to an objective and impartial stance and will play a constructive role in advancing a solution that addresses the legitimate concerns of all parties.
China Reaffirms Support for Palestinian Self-Governance and Two-State Solution
Regarding Washington’s plan to end the Gaza conflict, Guo stated that China supports all efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Palestine and Israel. He added that all relevant parties should achieve an immediate ceasefire within the framework of UN resolutions, allowing for the release of detainees and rapid alleviation of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Guo also reaffirmed Beijing’s support for the principle of “Palestinian self-governance in Palestine” and the implementation of a “two-state solution,” emphasizing China’s willingness to cooperate with the international community to achieve a comprehensive, just, sustainable, and prompt resolution to the Palestinian issue.
