Russia Tells UN: Snapback Mechanism Has No Validity
Rokna Political Desk: Russia has rejected the legality of the “snapback” mechanism, stating that its activation against Iran holds no legal standing.

According to Rokna, Russia emphasized that the recently reinstated UN sanctions on Iran under the snapback mechanism have no legal validity. Russian officials argue that the process was activated in violation of proper procedures and international law.
Dmitry Polyansky, Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, stated that all sanctions and restrictions previously imposed on Iran under Resolution 2231 will cease to have effect once the resolution expires on October 18, 2025.
The snapback mechanism, invoked by the European trio of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, aimed to restore UN sanctions against Tehran following alleged violations of nuclear commitments. Russia, however, has stressed that this move undermines the legal framework of the UN Security Council and has no binding authority.
