U.S. Government Officially Shuts Down as Budget Crisis Deepens
Rokna Political Desk: The United States government has officially entered a shutdown after lawmakers failed to reach an agreement on federal funding, with government operations halting at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday local time.

According to Rokna, citing ABC News, the shutdown followed the collapse of proposals from both Republicans and Democrats aimed at securing temporary funding for the federal government. On Tuesday, a Democratic-backed bill to extend healthcare subsidies was defeated, while a Republican measure to provide seven weeks of stopgap funding also failed to win approval.
With no agreement in place, the federal government faced a funding lapse, forcing agencies to suspend non-essential operations.
As reported by NBC News, following Tuesday’s failed votes in Congress, White House Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought instructed federal agencies to implement their contingency plans for an orderly shutdown.
The budget standoff reflects the deep partisan divisions in Washington, with both parties unable to secure enough support for their respective proposals, leaving the future of U.S. government funding uncertain.
