Palestinian Representative: Recognizing Our Country Is a Right, Not a Favor

According to Rokna, Riyad Mansour, Palestine’s representative at the UN, stated during his speech at the General Assembly that humanitarian organizations in Gaza are being targeted.

He said, “We are facing a renewed attempt to destroy our nation. Recognizing the State of Palestine is a right, not a favor. Recognition of Palestine forms part of an international effort to end the war in Gaza.”

Mansour further noted that the New York Declaration on the two-state solution paves the way for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The Palestinian envoy stressed that ending mass killings in Gaza is an urgent priority that can no longer be postponed. He called for an immediate end to killings, destruction, and famine in Gaza and demanded that Israel withdraw from the territory.

He also acknowledged mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, while emphasizing that there is no justification for delaying a ceasefire in Gaza. Mansour called for decisive action to prevent the war from continuing indefinitely.

“The Security Council has been prevented from playing its role in stopping the war in Gaza,” he added.

Mansour further highlighted the need to reunify Gaza with the West Bank, underscoring that Palestinians require recovery, food, and medicine, and that they have the right to live with dignity. “There is no justification for the horrific actions that our people are suffering in Gaza,” he said.

He concluded by reaffirming Palestine’s commitment to peace and urging Israel to uphold its obligations.
