Macron: Snapback Mechanism Sanctions Against Iran Are Inevitable
Rokna Political Desk – Emmanuel Macron, President of France, announced that the activation of the snapback mechanism and the reinstatement of related sanctions against Iran is certain to take place by the end of September.

According to Rokna, citing Axios News, Macron stated in an interview with Israel’s Channel 12 that snapback sanctions against Iran will be implemented by the end of this month.
In the interview, Macron also claimed that Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, had attempted to present a “reasonable proposal” to reach an agreement with the European powers. However, he added, this initiative was not supported by other members of the Iranian government.
Axios reported that Macron’s remarks indicate that efforts to reach a deal between Iran and the European powers have failed, and Iran will face considerably greater economic sanctions. Furthermore, international observers would effectively have no oversight over Iran’s nuclear materials and facilities.
Axios further noted that the United Nations Security Council is expected to vote next week on the reinstatement of sanctions against Iran, which could take effect again by September 27 (5 Mehr).
The news outlet added that earlier this week, Iran submitted a new proposal to the European troika – France, Germany, and the United Kingdom – seeking a multi-month extension of the snapback mechanism in exchange for specific steps on its nuclear program and a resumption of negotiations with the United States. According to an informed source, the European troika considers Iran’s latest proposal insufficient, as it requests broad measures such as extending or even fully lifting the snapback in exchange for declarations from Iran without tangible actions.
Nevertheless, the source claimed that the European troika remains open to diplomacy with Iran at any time, including on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York next week.
