Unprecedented Ruling: U.S. Court Orders Trump to Pay $83 Million
Rokna Political Desk: In a landmark decision, a federal court in New York has rejected presidential immunity claims and ordered Donald Trump to pay $83 million in damages to E. Jean Carroll. The ruling stems from Trump’s 2019 statements and their consequences for Carroll, including death threats and online harassment.

Accordint to Rokna the New York federal court confirmed the $83.3 million award against Trump in the case brought by the former Elle magazine columnist, related to his 2019 remarks in which he accused Carroll of lying and denied her allegations of sexual assault in the 1990s.
A three-judge panel of the appellate court rejected Trump’s argument that he enjoyed presidential immunity for the statements, asserting that he had deliberately misrepresented the truth.
The judges noted that following Trump’s remarks, Carroll faced a flood of attacks on social media, via email, and even death threats.
The court’s written opinion stated: “There was sufficient evidence indicating that Trump was indifferent to Carroll’s safety and security.”
This ruling continues a case that began in 2019, during which Trump repeatedly made public statements against Carroll. In a separate 2023 case, a jury had also ordered him to pay $5 million for assault and defamation in a social media post.
