"Xinhua Report Unveils Global Risks of U.S. Ideological and Cognitive Influence" + Video

Accordig to Rokna, citing Xinhua a think tank affiliated with Xinhua News Agency released a report at the 2025 Global South Media and Think Tank Forum, exposing what it describes as the global dangers of U.S. “mind colonization” and cognitive warfare. The report, titled “Colonization of the Mind — The Means, Roots, and Global Perils of U.S. Cognitive Warfare”, examines the historical roots, methods, and global impact of the United States’ long-standing ideological interventions.

According to the report, U.S. efforts to consolidate global hegemony began as early as the nation’s founding and continued through territorial expansion, the Monroe Doctrine, and the Marshall Plan. Throughout the Cold War and post-Cold War eras, the U.S. allegedly exported its political and economic systems, suppressed alternative ideologies, and orchestrated interventions under the guise of democracy and freedom.

The report emphasizes that U.S. ideological influence is a coordinated system involving government bodies, media, think tanks, and NGOs, including the National Endowment for Democracy. Modern digital technologies, social media platforms, and AI algorithms are described as tools used to manipulate global public opinion and advance ideological control.

According to the report, this cognitive warfare has undermined spiritual independence, cultivated pro-American elites in developing countries, and exported economic models that often result in economic stagnation and social hardships. The report also highlights the growing resistance of Global South nations and emphasizes China’s initiatives—including the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative—as pathways toward independent development and liberation from ideological dependence.
