Ali Bagheri Appointed Deputy for International Affairs at Supreme National Security Council
Rokna Political Desk: Ali Bagheri has been appointed as Deputy for International Affairs at the Supreme National Security Council.

According to Rokna, Ali Bagheri, former acting Foreign Minister of Iran and Political Deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the administration of the late President Raisi, has recently been appointed as Deputy for International Affairs at the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council by Ali Larijani.
The report notes that Bagheri was present today (Saturday) at a meeting between Ali Larijani and Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia.
Ali Bagheri Kani (born October 1967) is an Iranian diplomat who, since 10 Shahrivar 1403 (August 31, 2024), has served as a member of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations and, since 24 Shahrivar 1403 (September 14, 2024), as Secretary of this council.
He has also served as an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs since 19 Shahrivar 1403 (September 9, 2024).
Previously, from 1400 to 1403 (2021–2024), Bagheri held the position of Political Deputy of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and headed Iran’s negotiating team in the Vienna talks on the revival of the JCPOA.
Following the death of Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in the Varzeqan helicopter crash, Bagheri was appointed Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs on 31 Ordibehesht 1403 (May 21, 2024), a position he held until 31 Mordad 1403 (August 22, 2024).
He has also served as Deputy for International Affairs at Iran’s Judiciary and as Secretary of the Human Rights Headquarters.
During Saeed Jalili’s tenure as Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Bagheri Kani was Deputy for Foreign Policy and International Security at the council and a senior negotiator on Iran’s nuclear file.
Ali Bagheri is the son of Mohammad Bagher Bagheri Kani, a cleric and former member of the Assembly of Experts, and the nephew of Mohammad Reza Mahdavi Kani. Bagheri’s brother, Mesbah Alhoda, is married to the daughter of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
