Trump: Putin Sent Me This Photo / The Situation Will Be Clear Within Two Weeks

Rokna reported that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, said he informed his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, that Russia’s attack on an American electronics components factory in western Ukraine caused him distress.

According to the Kyiv Independent website, during a major attack on Thursday, August 21, a Russian missile struck an electronics components factory owned by the American company Flex Ltd.

The website claimed that the factory did not produce military equipment and was located far from the main frontlines, in the city of Mukachevo in the Zakarpattia region.

During a press briefing at the White House, Trump was asked whether he had discussed Russia’s attack on the American-owned factory with Putin.

In response, Trump claimed: “I told him that I am not pleased with this attack. And I am not pleased with any of the events related to this war.”

Trump’s remarks indicated that between the occurrence of the attack on Thursday and the press briefing at the White House on Friday, he had held a conversation with Putin that was not officially announced.

During the Friday briefing, shortly before being asked about Russia’s attack on the American factory, Trump showed reporters a photo of himself with Putin during the Alaska meeting and said that this photo had been sent to him by Putin.

Regarding the Russian President, Trump stated: “He shows a lot of respect for me and my country. He does not show much respect to others.”

The U.S. President said he expects to learn within two weeks how the peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, mediated by Washington, will proceed.

He said: “Within the next two weeks, we will understand the path this process will take, and I should be very pleased.”

Addressing conservative American commentator Tad Starnes regarding this two-week timeframe, Trump emphasized that if the negotiations ultimately do not result in an agreement, the United States may adopt a new strategy.

He noted: “Within the next two weeks, we will know whether peace will be established in Ukraine or not. After that, we may have to take a different course.”

Previously, the White House had set several deadlines for achieving a peace agreement in the Ukraine war, none of which were successful. Trump had also threatened Russia with severe sanctions if an agreement with Ukraine was not reached by those deadlines, though these threats have not yet been implemented.

Following Russia’s attack on the factory in Mukachevo, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that Moscow deliberately targeted this American-owned factory during the peace negotiations.

He asserted: “The Russians knew exactly where their missiles would strike. We believe this was a deliberate attack specifically aimed at American property in Ukraine and American investments. It was a very clear attack.”

Andy Hander, head of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, told the Kyiv Independent: “This attack is sending a message that American commercial facilities are also targets.”
