“Iran, Armenia Ready for Long-Term Cooperation”

According to Rokna, quoting the Government Information Base, on Tuesday (August 19), in the joint meeting of the high-level delegations of Iran and Armenia, Masoud Pezeshkian stressed that the continuation of the cordial relations between the two countries is a serious belief of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and announced Iran’s readiness to expedite the finalization and signing of a long-term strategic cooperation program between the two sides.

He also reiterated that relations and cooperation between Iran and Armenia are developing in all areas and emphasized the need to increase exchanges and consultations between the two countries’ officials to remove barriers and resolve problems in achieving the predetermined objectives and implementing bilateral documents.

The President stated: “The profound historical, cultural, and civilizational commonalities between Iran and Armenia provide a very favorable foundation for further strengthening cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan, based on efforts to secure mutual interests.”

Pezeshkian further emphasized the necessity of taking into account the concerns, considerations, and observations of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding recent regional developments, including the recent memorandum of understanding signed between Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the United States. He stressed that Iran has always sought to ensure stability and peace in the Caucasus region and will continue to do so.

In the joint meeting of the high-level delegations of Iran and Armenia, the President once again underscored the need to heed the concerns, considerations, and observations of the Islamic Republic of Iran with respect to recent regional developments, including the memorandum of understanding recently signed between Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the United States. He reiterated that Iran has consistently sought and will continue to seek the consolidation of stability and peace in the Caucasus.

Pashinyan: Iran’s Considerations Regarding the Construction of the New Corridor Will Undoubtedly Be Respected

The Prime Minister of Armenia, in this meeting, while expressing satisfaction over Dr. Pezeshkian’s visit and the accompanying delegation to his country, stated that Armenia has always been and will remain committed to preserving its friendly and historical relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that Iran and Armenia possess diverse and complementary capacities which must be utilized in order to serve the interests of both nations.

He further underscored that the shared border with the Islamic Republic of Iran carries special significance for Armenia and declared: “Cooperation with Iran, within the framework of good-neighborly relations and the preservation and enhancement of friendly ties, is of strategic importance for Armenia, and without doubt, Iran’s considerations regarding the construction of the new corridor will be respected.”

He concluded by stressing that Armenia is prepared to sign a long-term strategic cooperation document between the two countries.
