What Happened at the Meeting Between Trump and European Leaders?

According to Russia Today, U.S. President Donald Trump, in a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders at the White House, said that matters at the White House were progressing very successfully.

He added: “We are relying on the agreements that will emerge from the meeting with the leaders of the European Union and Zelensky, which will lead to a trilateral summit with Russia.”

The U.S. President, noting that he had discussed certain remaining issues with Zelensky, stated: “In our meeting with the leaders of the European Union and Zelensky, we will discuss the ‘possible exchange of territories.’”

Trump said: “Within a specific period of time, not far from now, one or two weeks, we will know whether we can resolve this or if this terrible war will continue. We will do everything we can to bring it to an end.”

The U.S. President further declared: “We had a very successful day and important discussions. Our goal is to end the war and the killing. I also spoke indirectly with Putin and will speak with him again, and perhaps it will be a very good conversation. Afterwards, we will hold a trilateral meeting to rid ourselves of this war.”

Trump: We Prefer an Immediate Ceasefire in Ukraine

Trump, stating that the possibility of “future aggression against Ukraine” after a peace agreement is exaggerated, said: “All of us obviously prefer an immediate ceasefire while we work toward a lasting peace.”

Possibility of No Agreement Between Russia and Ukraine

The U.S. President noted that the prospects of resolving the Ukraine conflict would become clear within “one or two weeks,” and said there is also the possibility that no agreement will be reached.

Claiming that he has so far ended six wars, which he emphasized were not ceasefires but actual ends to conflicts, Trump stated: “In this regard, a ceasefire is good because the killing stops, but a peace agreement in the near future is within reach, and the next step is a trilateral meeting. I am eager for us to work together and reach a conclusion.”

Trump: We Must Prevent a Repeat of Aggression Against Ukraine

The U.S. President, praising the European officials present at the meeting, said: “We must prevent a renewed aggression against Ukraine. European countries will shoulder the main responsibility, but the United States will assist them.”

He added: “I am very pleased to be among the European leaders. Ukraine seeks to end the war, and we are pursuing security guarantees. The United States can provide very significant assistance in this regard.”

Macron: A Ceasefire is a Prerequisite for Any Trilateral Meeting

French President Emmanuel Macron declared that all those present at the meeting were seeking peace.

He added: “Only the holding of a trilateral meeting can resolve the matter, and when we speak of security guarantees, we are speaking of the security of the entire European continent.”

The French President stated: “Ending the killing and a ceasefire is the prerequisite for any trilateral meeting. To guarantee the security of Europe, we need a strong Ukrainian army.”

NATO Secretary General: I Thank Trump

The NATO Secretary General, in this meeting, expressed gratitude to Trump and praised his efforts to end the war in Ukraine, stating that Trump’s proposal to provide security guarantees for Ukraine represented a “great step forward.”
