Russian Prime Minister Meets Mohammad Reza Aref
Rokna Political Desk: Mikhail Mishustin, the Prime Minister of Russia, met today with Mohammad Reza Aref, Vice President of Iran, on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) summit in Kyrgyzstan.

According to Rokna, the Russian government stated in a press release regarding the meeting that cooperation with Iran constitutes an important component for safeguarding Russia’s national interests, aiming to strengthen stability and security in the Caspian region, the South Caucasus, Central Asia, the Persian Gulf, the Middle East, and neighboring areas.
RIA Novosti reported that the two-day Eurasian Intergovernmental Council session commenced on Thursday in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
The Russian government’s statement added that Russia and Iran are aligned on most global and regional issues and share an equal stance. Both countries are committed to establishing a just and democratic international order based on universally recognized principles and norms of international law, enhancing the role of the United Nations in international affairs, and promoting mutual and equitable cooperation among states.
The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council is composed of the heads of government of member states. Its responsibilities include ensuring the implementation of, and monitoring compliance with, the treaty and decisions of the Eurasian Supreme Economic Council.
Iran was granted observer status in the EAEU in December 2024.
