Washington: The Doors of Diplomacy with Iran Remain Open
Rokna Political Desk : The Deputy Spokesperson of the U.S. Department of State emphasized the continuation of the maximum pressure campaign against Iran and the prevention of access to oil revenues, declaring that the doors of diplomacy remain open and that Trump is ready to negotiate for a better future between Iran and the world.

The Deputy Spokesperson of the U.S. Department of State, while praising the U.S. maximum pressure campaign against Iran and the country’s offensive against Iran, claimed: “Alongside these measures, the door of diplomacy remains open, and Trump is ready to negotiate with Iran—negotiations that may lead to a better future for the people of Iran, the United States, and the region.”
“Tommy Pigott,” Deputy Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, responded to questions regarding the positions of U.S. President Donald Trump on the Ukraine war, the Gaza war, and Iran’s nuclear program in an interview with the American network NewsNation on Sunday evening.
At the beginning of the interview, Pigott was asked about Trump’s limited deadline for Russia and his vague policies. He stated: “I can only speak to the President’s remarks and cannot comment on his potential decisions. He has said that he has specific options and has clearly expressed his views on Russia’s actions.”
Claiming that Washington seeks a ceasefire, Pigott added: “The U.S. government has always emphasized the need for negotiations to reach a ceasefire, but in order to achieve a ceasefire, actions must be taken—words are not enough.”
In response to a question suggesting a similarity between Russia developments and Trump’s deadline for negotiations with Iran, he said: “I cannot speak on potential developments. The maximum pressure campaign against Iran is underway.”
In response to a question about the possibility of another U.S. attack on Iran “should Iran resume its uranium enrichment program,” Pigott claimed: “I can speak about current actions. The maximum pressure campaign against Iran is underway to prevent Iran from accessing revenue from its oil sales.”
He alleged: “Iran uses its financial resources for destabilizing activities, such as its nuclear program. We are witnessing unprecedented sanctions on Iran to prevent it from obtaining revenue from illegal oil sales.”
Pigott claimed: “Alongside these measures, the door of diplomacy remains open to Iran. While taking action as a peace-seeker, Trump is still ready for talks that may result in a better future for the people of Iran, the U.S., and the region.”
The Deputy Spokesperson’s claim comes despite the fact that Trump has in practice taken pride in his crimes against the Iranian people. Furthermore, while Pigott adopts a benevolent tone when speaking of a “constructive outcome” for the Iranian people, according to John Bolton—Trump’s former National Security Advisor and one of the architects of the maximum pressure campaign—the purpose of this campaign was “to pressure the Iranian people and strike at them so that they rise up.”
Consequently, no policy in Washington has been adopted in favor of or for the benefit of the Iranian nation. In light of the second imposed war against Iran and how it was initiated, America's anti-Iranian policy has become more apparent than ever.
Ignoring Israel’s Crimes
Continuing his remarks, Pigott ignored official reports from U.S. officials regarding the falsity of claims about humanitarian aid being stolen by Hamas in Gaza. He stated: “We have delivered over 100 million meals to Gaza without them being looted by Hamas. Hamas uses food as a weapon and continues its assault on the people of Gaza through the continuation of the war. The real war is being waged not only against Israel but also against the people of Gaza by Hamas. As long as Hamas exists, there will be no peace for the people of Gaza.”
Criticism of Recognizing Palestine
He also criticized America’s allies, such as France and the UK, who have recently spoken about recognizing the State of Palestine. He remarked: “Such positions may be perceived as a reward for Hamas, while this group is the main party responsible for the continuation of the conflict.”
Pigott claimed: “The day Hamas rejected the ceasefire proposal was the same day France announced its intention to recognize the State of Palestine. This move complicates peace efforts.”
Pigott’s attempt to cover up the crimes of the Zionist regime comes as Anthony Aguilar, a retired U.S. Special Forces member and former aid worker with a Gaza-based humanitarian foundation, criticized the Trump administration’s stance on Palestinians. He emphasized: “Aid distribution centers were designed to be death traps, and the population management for those seeking aid was inhumane. Armed Americans were present, participating in the ongoing developments in the Gaza Strip. The images from Gaza are undeniable and compelling evidence, and the aid centers of this organization were indeed designed as death traps.”
He also said: “There is severe famine and widespread despair among women and children in Gaza, and there are instances of brutality and war crimes occurring there. Such atrocities must not be permitted. The visit of Steve Witkoff (the President’s envoy to West Asia) was merely a performative gesture before the cameras.”
