Qalibaf: Iran Does Not Beg for Its Security from Anyone

According to Rokna, quoting from the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, in his pre-agenda speech during today’s (Sunday) open session of Parliament, said: “Last week, the parliamentary delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, representing the noble people of Iran, participated in the summit of heads of parliaments from around the world. It is necessary to present a report on the events and achievements of this summit.”

He explained: “This summit was significant because it marked Iran’s first official presence at an international event at the United Nations headquarters after the 12-day Sacred Defense, and the attendance of over 110 parliamentary delegations from around the world further emphasized its importance.”

Qalibaf stated: “Attention must be paid to the fact that the Western media empire made great efforts to portray Iran as the loser in the recent imposed war; their goal in constructing such an image was to force Iran into accepting an imposed peace after the imposed war. Therefore, the first objective of Iran’s parliamentary delegation was to correct this 'media construction,' which could lead to another miscalculation by the enemy.”

He noted: “While the oppressed people of Gaza are subjected to systematic genocide, our second goal was to become the voice of this oppression and to demand humanity from governments and international institutions. These two objectives were pursued through three means: the initiative to hold a side event on adherence to international law and the United Nations Charter to guarantee international peace and security, opportunities for official speeches, and bilateral meetings.”

The Speaker of Parliament added: “The side event, initiated by Iran at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, was held with the participation of 31 parliamentary delegations and three international organizations. The level of reception of this event was so unexpected that even our friendly countries were surprised, but it encouraged our allies and angered Iran’s enemies. This welcome illustrated Iran’s elevated status in the post-war period, and by collapsing the media narrative of a weakened Iran, it reinforced the position and enhanced the international authority of our beloved country. It also conveyed a clear message of support from countries for Iran’s rational and just positions.”

Iran does not beg for its security from anyone

Qalibaf, referring to his official speeches at the summit, said: “On behalf of the Iranian people, I sought to emphasize several points in my official statements, which received considerable international and media attention. The first strategy was to break the image of a weakened Iran. While addressing the illegal and oppressive behaviors of the United States and the Zionist regime in light of the UN Charter, we emphasized that Iran does not beg for its security from anyone. This was to correct the enemies’ miscalculations and make clear that the only path forward is the recognition of our legal rights. They must not harbor any ambitions for imposed war or imposed peace. Should they choose diplomacy, Iran, as always, is ready to engage from a position of strength, using rational and dignified mechanisms.”

The Speaker continued: “The second strategy in these speeches was exposing the criminal nature of the Zionist regime and its Western supporters. We sought to clarify that the actions of this regime are akin to 21st-century Nazism, characterized by state-sponsored racism, systematic genocide, and violations of the territorial integrity of other nations. It poses a threat to global security, and if the international system does not confront it today, all countries will eventually suffer in the flames of this fascist ideology.”

Qalibaf emphasized: “The third strategy was to demand that governments and the international system go beyond mere rhetoric and statements in defense of the oppressed people of Gaza and take concrete action. Otherwise, we will witness the collapse of the international community, and the impunity of the Zionist regime’s aggressions will undermine the legitimacy of the international system and send a dangerous message for global peace.”

The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly stated: “The actions of the Iranian parliamentary delegation angered the dishonorable Speaker of the Zionist regime’s Knesset, forcing him to react passively during the same summit. He was even compelled to deny the hunger of the people and children of Gaza, contrary to all official reports from UN-affiliated reporters and experts. Even more remarkable was that the chant of 'Death to Israel' by Iranian parliament members became the best amplifier of the Iranian nation’s desire for freedom. Right here, we proudly and loudly declare: 'O Israel, be angry with us, and die of your anger.'”

He concluded by referring to the bilateral meetings held during the summit, stating: “The most frequently conveyed message in these meetings was appreciation for Iran’s strength and positions against the United States and the Zionist regime. In these meetings, Iran’s capability for a powerful response to enemy aggression was explained. In addition to bolstering the Foreign Ministry’s capacity for active diplomacy, efforts were made to examine bilateral issues aimed at strengthening economic and trade relations.”

It is noteworthy that after the Speaker’s remarks in the open session of Parliament, Members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly chanted “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.”
