According to Rokna, the editor-in-chief of the Tehran Times republished part of a report from The Economist, writing: Westerners are not only afraid of Iranian missiles but even Iranian eggplants.

Tehran Times wrote: It appears that Iranian eggplants, like missiles, have been added to the list of Western security threats.

The report continues, stating that some Arab and Western countries take a security and restrictive approach to any manifestations of Iranian culture — from films and literature to food and agricultural products.

Tehran Times, citing certain Western media sources, adds that media activists in the West claim that Iranian agricultural products, including eggplants, are part of the “cultural propaganda of the Islamic Republic.”

This newspaper also refers to the reaction of Iranian users on social media who humorously wrote: “Will eggplants soon be sanctioned as well?”
