Iranian Official Underlines Efforts to Avert Harm to National Security

In a letter to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Mohsen Rezaei said the assassination of top physicist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh reveals the last-ditch attempts by the “dirty triangle of Trump, Netanyahu and Bin Salman” to foment tensions and war in the region.

The president, as the head of the Supreme National Security Council, is expected to prevent such terrorist attacks and not allow any harm to the national security, Rezaei added.

He also proposed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should lodge a complaint to the international organizations against the trio of state-sponsored terrorism and warn that one more single terrorist attack will make Iran deny the international observers’ access to its nuclear activities.

Rezaei also stressed that the Iranian intelligence agencies must detect infiltrators and sources of foreign spy services and thwart the formation of assassination teams.

In a message on Saturday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei paid tribute to Mohsen Fakhrizadeh as an eminent scientists in the nuclear and defense fields, adding, “All relevant administrators must seriously place two crucial matters on their agendas: First to investigate this crime and firmly prosecute its perpetrators and its commanders, second to continue the martyr’s scientific and technological efforts in all the sectors where he was active.”

Fakhrizadeh was assassinated by unknown gunmen in a small city east of Tehran on Friday evening.

After sustaining injuries from a car explosion and bullets, Fakhrizadeh was taken to the hospital with a helicopter, but succumbed to injuries a few hours later.
