He said Iran welcomes the US return to the multilateral accord by any American president who decides to do so, and “to stop obstructing the fulfillment of the obligations” of parties to the deal.

US Republican President Donald Trump walked out of the Iran nuclear deal in 2018 and reinstated tough sanctions on Tehran.

Other parties to the agreement – known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action – opposed Trump’s withdrawal and his efforts to dismantle the JCPOA in order to force Iran to negotiate a new deal.

Trump’s Democratic challenger in the upcoming presidential election, Joe Biden, has vowed to bring back the US to the JCPOA if he becomes president. 

Biden has said he would do so if Iran first fully implements its commitments to the agreement.

Iran scaled back parts of its JCPOA obligations in retaliation for the US withdrawal from the accord.

Rabiei said Iran’s reduction of commitments is “reversible” and that the country will immediately return to the previous position of fulfilling its obligations as soon as other parties fulfill their obligations.

Rabiei rejected claims by the US that Iran has been trying to interfere in the vote.

“We have not interfered in this election,” he said.

Trump’s national security adviser Robert O’Brien on Sunday accused Iran of “trying to influence Americans” in the run-up to the election in the US in efforts to “hurt” Trump.

Iran has time and again rejected such allegations and stressed that the US presidential vote is a domestic issue.
