Man arrested for sexually abusing four-year-old girl last year

The abuse happened at the Economy Inn on Southgate Place SW back in March and April of 2020. 45-year-old Jose Benitez was arrested on two counts of Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree. Investigators say they were first alerted to the abuse in October. They determined that Benitez and his alleged victim knew each other before the forced sexual acts.

2nd Degree Sexual Abuse is a Class B Felony in Iowa. Each charge could bring a sentence of 25 years in prison if Benitez is found guilty.
