Man admits decapitating dead woman, says he panicked but didn’t kill her

Eric Bryant, who is charged with dismembering a human body, denied killing the victim but said he decapitated her in an effort to get rid of the remains, Assistant State’s Attorney Kevin Deboni told a Cook County judge, according to the Chicago Tribune.

“The worst thing he did was wrap the head and cut it off with a handsaw,” he said.

The woman, 61-year-old Kimiko Armstrong, was found dead in her Chicago apartment on July 23, when her neighbors complained of “a very bad smell” coming from the home, Deboni told the court.

Cops discovered her body wrapped in plastic and bed coverings while her head was later found in the kitchen, according to prosecutors.

Her body was so badly decomposed that medical examiners still haven’t determined the cause or manner of death. Authorities said “multiple narcotics” were found in her system, but they have not ruled out a possible violent death.

Bryant, 49, is not facing Murder charges. He was connected to the case through fingerprints found at the scene.

Prosecutors said they saw him in Armstrong’s apartment when they were called by the neighbors, but the man allegedly fled before cops could get to him.

The convicted felon, who has previously been charged in numerous burglaries, is being held without bail.
