Anderson man sentenced 50 years to life for 2019 murder in Happy Valley

Last year, O'Connell shot his unarmed roommate, Mancebo, with a shotgun inside their home after an argument. In October 2020, Shasta County DA said the jury also found true the special allegation that O'Connell personally and intentionally discharged a firearm, causing deaths, during the commission of the murder.

According to the Shasta County DA, the judge noted the egregious nature of O'Connell's crime in sentencing him to 50 years to life.
